About

Jerry Moore

For the past 6 years I have been working in the costume industry. My specialism is in cutting and tailoring and I have worked in Theatre, Film and TV, working with fascinating creative professionals along the way. An exciting highlight of my career so far was when I was contacted to cut and make costumes for the BBC series Poldark. I communicated closely with the Designer Susannah Buxton and Supervisor Gilly Martin to deliver a set of costumes that met their requirements.

I have worked at Theatre Royal Plymouth in the Production Wardrobe department for the last 6 years and in this time I have worked on remarkable productions for regional, national and international theatre.

I was fortunate enough to undertake an exciting work placement at the Royal Shakespeare Company. During my time there I worked as part of the Menswear team in Production Wardrobe and met an incredible array of theatre individuals, such as makers, cutters and supervisors.

I was Costume Designer for The Curse of the Phoenix, a film by acclaimed director Robert Young. As well as designing this production I cut and sourced costumes to bring the directors vision to life.

Period cutting is my strength, but I am also equally able to cut and realise modern clothing. It fascinates me how a costume can be born from a flat pattern. I find a designers vision compelling and enjoy transforming it from a 2-dimensional image to a 3-dimensional form that embodies a character. My passion for costume lies in its ability to portray character and how it allows an actor to transform into another being.
